Benefits of tea from perspectives of senior people

The body metabolism decreases as we age, which would lead to higher risks of getting obesity and hyperlipidemia. Then, hyperlipidemia usually results in the stroke, arteriosclerosis, hypertension, heart diseases, and so on. Therefore, it is important for old people to regulate blood lipid. Rich polyphenols and vitamin in tea can activate our veins, regulate blood sugar, and accelerate calories to burn, which not only reduces the acclamation of fat but helps prevent diabetes and several cardiovascular diseases. It is advised that the effect, lowering blood lipid and protecting veins, would be maximized if drinking tea either one hour later after lunch or in the afternoon. Meanwhile, polyphenols can protect brain cells from getting alzheimer’s disease and parkinson’s disease [1-4].

On the other hand, the substance of bone also decreases as we are getting old. The weaker bone would easily lead to fracture or osteoporosis. However, flavonoids in tea can prevent the dissociation of bone. Meanwhile, polyphenols can improve the calcification of bone. Therefore, drinking tea helps strengthen bones and reduce the risk of osteoporosis. Research also shows that tea, especially green tea and oolong tea, can help prevent osteoporosis. In summary, polyphenols and vitamin in tea have the ability of anti-oxidation, which can prevent cells from aging rapidly, and thus lower the influence that may arise from the older age.
